Hiedelberg, Germany

Today morning, we woke up at 4,got ready, had milk, took bread with us for lunch and started for Heidelberg. We went to railway station and got the “weekend ticket” which costs 35 euros for a group of 5. And using that ticket, we can travel anywhere in Germany in the weekend. As we didn’t have any group, we both of us took that ticket, and it costed each 17.5. We have to change train in an intermediate stop and time gap is 3 min. If we miss that train, again we have to wait for 1 hr. And in 3 mins we have to change platform also. So,we planned to run immediately as soon as we get down the previous train. But to our luck the next train’s platform is beside our platform. So,we needn’t change platforms. We reached Hiedelberg by about 10..

Then we went to the tourist information center and found out the important places there. They gave us a map and provided guidance with bus numbers..Then we went to that place in Heidelberg where castle(palace) is present.Castle is situated on the top of the hill.

So,we had to walk for a long time to reach there. It was so tiring. We took pictures in the middle and finally we reached the castle. There is a ticket at the entrance. We took ticket with concession(student) and went inside the castle. It was beautiful. Some part of it was destroyed in 2nd world war. They are rebuilding that part now. We went to a place where they didn’t allow us saying that we have to take a ticket. We showed our ticket which we bought at the entrance. They told us that ticket is not compulsory ticket and that is for some museum entrance. We got disappointed a bit and then started searching for the museum for which we took ticket. Finally we found it, but the bad thing is that it is not that interesting and they didn’t check for the ticket:((.

Then we saw all the parts of the castle, took photos and videos and then started searching way for the famous old bridge(tourist place). We reached the old bridge by walking along the side of the river ‘Neckar’.

We went across the bridge. It was beautiful with beautiful statues in between. Then we started feeling hungry. We had the bread we got with us and we had a pizza at a bakery with 1 euro. Here people preserve old buildings and consider it as heritage. Then we walked to the Heidelberg university(one of the oldest universities) and went to a church with beautiful construction.

Then we started back to Saarbrucken. Now again we have to change the train and now the platforms are far. So,we ran fast to catch other train in 3 mins(understood the use of shoes) and successfully reached our train and we reached Saarbrucken by 5
