Today morning, we woke up early and then had good breakfast in the hostel. They gave us corn flakes, bread, jam and salad , fruit juice and milk. We can have as much as we want. Then we took Salzburg card to roam inside city for 24 euros. With that card, entrance to almost all things is free. Our friends who have been there suggested us this.

We went to a mountain called Untersberg in Alps (Alps are like himalayas in Europe..Switzerland contains Alps..They are very beautiful snow covered mountains). We went there by 8.30am. There is a cable car which takes up to the mountain. It was a nice experience in cable car and then there we expected it to be cold, but it was not cold at all.

We saw on internet that there is an ice cave there. So,we started walking on the mountain in the direction given. We crossed many mountain. We saw snow in the middle at many places and rock is very hard, tough to walk. We were doing hiking for the first time and felt very excited to do mountain hiking. In the middle, we took photos of nice sceneries.

When we are walking on snow, it is skidding. The person (cable car)who saw our shoes said that they are not enough for hiking, many people have two sticks with them, with which they hike.

We started hiking like that only. We walked for 1.30 hr, but we couldn’t find ice cave. Everyone there is going so fast and we were moving like tortoises. We saw many old people also walking very easily on the mountains.

At one point, it is full of snow and steep. I slipped in the snow there, it was nice and very cool. My hand became numb for a second then it was fine again. It was lot of fun climbing on the mountains. We started asking every person crossing us the same question, “Are you going to ice caves?? How much time will it take?”. Everyone said that it will take 1 hr to go there. So, we crossed many mountains. We walked very carefully not to slip anywhere. Even a 60 yr old person is also climbing faster than us. We walked across 10-12 big mountains.

We enjoyed a lot, then we went further down. We reached a mountain which is very steep. We went half way to the mountain and it was the riskiest thing I have ever done in my life. There is valley beside us. We are almost walking on the boundary. One slip, we will fall into the valley. There is no boundary wall or something there. So,we felt a bit frightened there and started coming back.
When we are coming back, we came through a different route. We found a shorter path which is beautiful and took very less time to reach back. I think we almost walked some 4-5 kms and we reached back to cable car at about 1pm. When I went to Black forest, my legs pained a lot and I was unable to walk fast (climb). But now even though I walked about some 5 hrs on steep mountains,my legs didn’t pain even a bit.

Then at 1pm we went down the cable car and went to a place called Helbrunn where there are fountains and a palace. There are fountains everywhere that place and we didn’t even realize that there are fountains in the place we stood and suddenly water came up wetting us. It was nice as it was very hot outside. Temperature is about 25 degrees, but it is really hot.

I got used to cold climate a lot here. Then we went to river side and had cruise ride which is free with Salzburg card. It was also very nice. Big cruise and mountains beside us, it was about 1 hr ride and then we got down from there and went to a fortress which is on top of a hill.

A funicular takes us to the top of that one. We went up there and found that the fortress is not that great, it is more like a museum.

Then we went to a garden which is very nice with grass curved well and flowers around. We sat there for some time and went to railway station.

There I had some fries and icecream (my staple veg food). They gave me big icecream for 1 euro. Usually for 1 euro , we get only a cone here. They gave a big icecream and I was unable to eat. Then we boarded train to Berlin in the night. The train was nice and had reclining seat. But I couldn’t sleep well in that reclining seat as I never had a habit of sleeping on the chair.
