Today morning,we woke up and got ready in the airport itself and boarded the flight to Rome. We reached Rome by about 9.30am. From there, we had to take a bus to Rome city (airport is outside city). We all waited for the bus. As soon as the bus came, we boarded the bus. By then bus got filled up and they didn’t allow anyone else to board the bus . We had to get down at the first stop, but someone gave us the wrong information. So,we went to the last stop. It is good in some sense, because there are direct metros from there to Rome city. Then we took Rome pass for traveling in Rome for 2 days and started to Vatican city as it gets closed by 1pm. So,we went to Vatican hurriedly.

Vatican city is the smallest country in the world. It is small place, famous for its church and museum. Church is very huge and it is the biggest one in the world where pope stays.

Then we started to Vatican museum. It is a nice huge one, with lot of paintings and roman architecture and sculptures. After seeing that, we decided to go to hostel, take rest for some time and then go out. So,we went to hostel at about 4pm.

The hostel is very near to railway station. We ready after sometime and went to see fountains and Colosseum in lights. We went to Trevi fountain first. There is a myth that, if we throw a coin into it,we will come back to Rome, if we throw two coins, you will love a roman guy. and three coins means will marry a Roman. Its for only girls. I threw 1 cent into it expecting to come back to Rome later 🙂 The fountain is very beautiful. We took photos there and then went to see other fountains on the way.

We walked down the streets and atlast reached Roman Colosseum. It is very famous Building in Rome, one of the seven wonders. It looked spectacular in lights. We saw that and started back at about 11.30pm.

Next day morning, we woke up at around 7.30am, got ready and then went to have breakfast. They gave us croissant and fruit juice. We had that and started for Colosseum. Last night we saw that on from outside in the light, but. we didn’t go inside. So,we went inside the Colosseum. It was a very big one, looks like some stadium. It is the place where whole kingdom used to meet.

Construction is amazing, we took photos there and went to Palatine hill. There we saw remains of Roman civilization. Most of the buildings are destroyed as they are very old, but still it looked very nice. We saw their temples, bath places, forts etc. We got a nice feel of seeing some ancient civilization.

Then we wanted to see a place called Pantheon. We asked people there for buses to that place, but everyone told us that it is near and that we can go there by walk. We had a map of Rome along with us. So,we started walking finding places in the map. One good thing is that, they marked everything on the map all buildings, fountains etc. So,we walked to that place looking out fountains and nice buildings on the way.

We had pizza (Authentic Italian home made pizza) in the middle and then finally reached that place. It is a structure which is built in such a way that depending upon the position of sunlight, they calculate time. There is a big hole in the building. The sun rays fall in different angles at different times. Depending on that, they calculate time.

We sat there for some time and started walking again. One beautiful thing in Rome is that each street has something special, be it structure or fountain. We walked to another place called Spanish steps, there is a beautiful fountain there. We sat there for some time as it was very hot outside and sitting near fountain felt really relieving.

The major places which we wanted to see are completed by then. But we have lot of time, it is 3.30 by then. We saw few other places in the map which looked good, so we wanted to see them also. We saw many buildings nearby.

Then we decided that Rome pass is actually waste as we can walk to every place in Rome. My friend argued that for Vatican city, we needed pass as it is outside the city (we went there yesterday).
Then we saw a nice building with beautiful dome nearby. We thought we will walk till there and catch a metro and then go back to airport. We went nearby to that building.
Then we realized that it is none other than Vatican city which is on the outskirts of Rome. We wondered that we walked all the way from Colosseum to Vatican city. These are the major places in Rome and that we walked covering all places in Rome today. We went near Vatican city, took photos and then went to catch metro. Then we took metro directly to the stop nearest to airport. We wondered about the fact that we walked entire Rome..We walked from morning 9 to evening 5, its actually very different experience, which we enjoyed thoroughly.

The longest walk of my life till now. I never used to walk at home, but now I am walking a lot without my knowledge. Then we reached stop near airport. We took bus to airport. We reached there by 6.30pm. We sat in the airport for sometime.
Euro cup matches are going on there (football matches among European countries). There were finals happening that day between Germany and Spain. We sat there in airport, a person sat beside us with a laptop and he is watching the euro match. We asked him if we can also see and we also started watching match along with him. He is from Rome only, it seems that he forgot his house keys and someone coming in flight will get the key, and he is waiting for them. He is a dubbing artist for some famous actors. We watched match on his laptop. Later looking at him, the officials switched on the sports channel in TVs of the airport. As soon as they switched it, many people came rushing. Everyone was eagerly watching the match like our cricket world cup match. Germany lost the match. We took our flight back to Frankfurt later and reached Saarbrucken the next day morning.
