Day 5 – Santorini beaches

Today morning, we hiked up to the highest point of Santorini near Pyrgos, from where we could see the complete island. Views are marvelous from that point.

We dedicated the complete day to beaches. Yes, there are many different beaches in Santorini, with lot of variation. Red beach, Black sand (Perissa) beach, Kamari beach etc. The water in all beaches is fresh and clear. We had a great day swimming around in different beaches.

We first went to Kamari, which is rocky beach. Land under the water is full of small pebbles unlike other beaches where it is sand. That makes water looks crystal clear. Walking in the beach water is little tough there as the pebbles are pricky sometimes. We had a great time there and then moved to Perissa beach after lunch.

Perissa beach is very close to the Kamari beach, but there is a lot of variation in the beach which is quite surprising. It is black sand beach. Pretty much like other beaches, just that the sand color is very black. This beach has lot of water sports too. There are shower enclosures near the beach, which makes the place perfect for swimming.

When we were about to go to Red Sand beach, we realized that one bike key is missing. We searched for it for a long time, but couldn’t find it anywhere. We could have either lost it in the beach or the sand, but color the sand made the searching more difficult. We had to call our bike agency for a duplicate key and wait for them to reach our location. Thankfully, we found a duplicate key that made our life easy. We had to skip the Red beach as it was too late.

Today marks the end of our trip in Santorini. Initially we thought that three days are really a lot for the island, but now we feel like it is very short time.
