We woke up in the morning with a view of Glacier from the cabin, along with sunrise and it looked spectacular.

We said good-bye to our cute little cabin and started on our journey to Seljalandsfoss (j pronounced as y).

This day was my cousin’s birthday (pic below) and we started our day with special wishes to her.

Before heading on to Seljalandsfoss, we found another small waterfall called Gluggafoss, 44m tall, which looked very beautiful. It looked like a beautiful chariot. We didn’t observe a lot of tourists here, as it required a detour from the main route.

We hiked up a little and filled our bottle with fresh glacier water and the water tasted too good and fresh. We got a chance to witness a rainbow again 🙂

We then proceeded to the most picturesque Seljalandsfoss, 60m tall waterfall. It looked very beautiful and fresh, felt like milk flowing below from the mountain.

We went through a route that goes behind the falls and walked around it. Water droplets falling from above were too cold and we had to wear our rain jackets to walk behind it.

It was good fun walking around it and getting wet with the breeze and droplets from the waterfall. I was worried about my mobile phone, though I bought a water cover for it 😛

It felt too cold and slippery behind the waterfall and couldn’t stay there for long. We came out and started our journey to the next waterfall, Skogafoss.

It looked majestic and beautiful in its own style. Though we have seen so many waterfalls till now, we were not bored of them. Each one is beautiful and different, with a great landscape around and we absolutely enjoyed the experience of going near them despite the cold winds.

I almost froze to get this photo below 😛 (got reminded of Baahubali falls)

The landscape around the falls is very scenic with small colorful flowers.

We took a small lunch break here and then started our journey to a small Glacier Sólheimajökull on the way to Vik.
Sólheimajökull is a glacier tongue that is falling from the Mýrdalsjökull glacier at a very slow pace. Step by step small icebergs fall from the glacier and break away from it into the small lake/lagoon below and melt. The glacier lies on the top of a volcano, giving the black (ash) and white (snow) shade. It looked amazing to see the formation.

After spending some time there, we started our journey to the Dyrhólaey, a small peninsula in the Southern Iceland. The views from this place are amazing with black sand beach and the cliff.

We quickly moved from this place to the famous Reynisfjara black sand beach in VÃk town, before it got dark. We saw a large stack of basalt columns on the beach side, which looked as if someone arranged them in that particular order.

There was also a small cave beneath that, with the basalt columns, which looked like a man-made cave.

The view of the beach from the cave is amazing with two amazing black rocks standing in between the Atlantic ocean under the spectacular sky. The white water foam touching the black sand beach was an amazing treat to watch.

The sky looked amazingly colorful during sunset and it was one of the best sunsets I have seen so far!

It was dark by the time we started back to our Airbnb cabin in Kirkjubæjarklaustur town (I still don’t understand how to pronounce this name). It rained heavily on the way back and was a difficult drive to the cabin.
The cabin looked amazing, but couldn’t get to see the view around. We felt so tired after a long day and took rest for the day.

Exciting day!! We enjoyed it thoroughly and looking forward for the Glacier lagoon tomorrow 🙂
