Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk

After the New year celebrations, we were excited and made an ambitious plan of spending the first day of the year at a beach. We decided to go to Bondi Beach, the most famous beach of Sydney and do a coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee(6km).

Our actual plan was to wake up around 8am and head out to the beach. We woke up around 11am the next day to realize that our plan has turned unrealistic. But we were not ready to give up our first plan of the year. We do have a sentiment that we will be performing the activities that we do on the first day of the year for the the complete year. So, that way we want to visit more beaches this year and didn’t want to miss it on Day1. We had a quick lunch and headed to Bondi by around 1pm.

We realized that many people in the city also made the same plan for the day looking at the huge crowd in the Bondi railway station. The area of the beach is very small, with hills on either sides. The beach is jam packed with Sydneysiders and tourists, that we couldn’t venture into the sea. We found some space on the sand and enjoyed the breeze. First beach of Australia – I felt little sad looking at its size, but the white sand and clear water made me feel happy.

We headed over on the coastal walk from Bondi to Bronte(3kms). Though our initial plan was till Coogee, we had to cut short it in the interest of time. This is something very special that I have seen in Australia. They encourage people to walk and trek and apparently, there are many coastal walks across the country. It was good fun walking beside the ocean with gorgeous cliffs and views in between.

It then suddenly made me realize that this was my first visit to the Pacific Ocean, the largest ocean in the world and felt very lucky being there. I guess Southern Ocean is the only one missing from my list now 🙂

We thoroughly enjoyed the walk and didn’t feel tired by the end of it, instead felt rejuvenated. We took our bus back from Bronte to Bondi station and headed back to Pennant Hills.

It felt like a great start to the new year 🙂 Hoping to visit many more beaches and do more coastal walks this year!
