It’s been close to a month that we have been in Sydney, but never got a chance to board a ferry till now. So, we decided to make a weekend plan to go to Manly beach by ferry. Sunday was an ideal day as the round trip ferry cost is capped at 2.70$.
We reached Circular Quay(the place where all Sydney ferries start from) on a cloudy sunday noon. The frequency of ferries is good, one in every 15mins. There are two ferries to Manly: one is regular passenger ferry and the other is a fast ferry. We chose the regular one, as it is cheaper. The quicker you reach the ferry stop, the better it is as you get to enter the ferry first and choose seat as per your preference. We just stood in a big line without knowing this fact and got a seat inside the ferry, with not so great views. But we were happy that we at least got a window seat.
Boat journeys always fascinate me, be it a small boat/ferry/ship. I am always fond of water and anything that moves on water 🙂 So, every boat journey is a special one for me, like this one. Though we have seen Harbour bridge during new year fireworks, the first sight of the bridge from the boat felt amazing.

One particular cruise caught my attention on the way. I haven’t been on such a big ship till then and I immediately searched on the destinations that can be reached on this cruise and the cost of it. The costs looked affordable and there adds up an another item to my bucket list, that is to board this cruise 🙂

Slowly, as we drifted away from Sydney harbour towards the north, we observed many small yachts on the way, as if there was a competition that was being held there.

There comes the Manly Wharf, our destination.

Manly beach was around 500m walk from this ferry stop. This is our second beach in Sydney and it looked relatively bigger and free compared to Bondi beach. Though we weren’t geared up for the beach, we spent good time in the waters. We loved the softness of the golden sand on the beach. It looked like a proper family beach with kids and families enjoying a Sunday afternoon there.

After spending a couple of hours relaxing on the beach, we walked back to the wharf, this time on a different route exploring the town. The town looked lively with bright posters and lovely decorations.

We got into our ferry back to Sydney, this time we entered first and got a seat on the deck 🙂 Got to find other fast ferries on the way.

Lotus temple and the harbor bridge looked amazing from the ferry deck 🙂 Getting a seat on the deck is the best thing to happen on our trip!

It felt amazing by the end of the trip and left me craving for a longer ferry journey in future. (may be the bigger cruise next time 😉 )
