Sea Cliff walk and Wollongong

We got a long weekend for Australia day and we were too late in our weekend planning. Our initial plan was to go to Jervis bay, but we couldn’t get a rental car. We decided not to give up our plan and use public transportation and go till Wollongong on a day trip.

The train ride is exciting with tunnels in between the trees of Royal National park.

We felt very thrilled to get a glimpse of green waters of the ocean from the train and that ride beside the ocean is amazing.

We reached Wollongong in around 2hrs. It was a small and lively town beside the ocean.

We took a bus to reach the beach side, where a carnival was happening. The sand on the beach looked golden yellow in color and it was very fine and smooth.

After spending some time at the Wollongong beach, we took a bus to reach Coal Cliff station, where the famous Sea Cliff Bridge starts.

It was a 2-3km walk along the ocean on a bridge built with a walkway for pedestrians! The walk on this bridge is the one of the best walks ever. It felt exciting to be so close to the sea.

I can easily spend several hours just sitting on the bridge observing the tides and rocks below. The cool breeze from the ocean felt very relaxing and rejuvenating.

We spent around an hour over the bridge and reached the next train station Scarborough, to catch our train back to Sydney.

With dense clouds in the evening, Scarborough gave us a feeling of being in a hill station with a beach beside it.

That could be the best combo ever, hill station + beach. We enjoyed the time in the station and then boarded our train back to Sydney.

Btw, Sea cliff bridge on a sunny day looks like this 🙂 We have been there later on our way to Jervis bay. I just added the photo here to show its true beauty 😉
