Sydney Helicopter Tour

Sydney helicopter tour always felt like a touristy and expensive thing to do in Sydney. I took it seriously when I found out about interesting deals on helicopter tour in one of the travel blogs which I follow:

When I reached out to Cat from the travel blog for more details about discount options with the helicopter tour, I realized there is a standby seat option on Sydney helicopter tours, which can be booked for weekend on Friday afternoon which comes for AUD 100. These are generally the left over seats in the helicopter after all the weekend bookings. Any seat on a helicopter is always a great option and I didn’t think twice about this after that.

I took my first helicopter tour over Grand Canyon which I thoroughly enjoyed and I was completely excited to take this up. I reached out to Sydney Heli tours on a Friday afternoon and I luckily got a standby seat for a 12pm helicopter 20mins tour on Saturday.

Hoping and praying for a window seat on the helicopter, I reached the place by 11:30am and eagerly awaited to see the number of passengers. We had only three people on the tour and the other two were friends. I was happy that I will get a window seat and the next minute my attention shifted to the front seat.

We took photos near the helicopter before the ride and then the big reveal happened – I got the front row seat! 🙂

All set to Fly!

The takeoff was smooth, we gradually ascended and flew in the direction of the Harbor.

Race course and Sydney Cricket Stadium were the first ones on the ride!

Harbour Bridge, Opera House and the Skyscrapers around looked mesmerizing from the helicopter. I just missed the azure waters because of the cloudy day.

From the Sydney Harbour bridge, we moved towards the cliffs and beaches. Our friendly pilot provided us informative commentary about the places we were flying over.

The world famous Bondi beach on the right! Somehow it looked empty on the day most likely due to cold weather.

After flying over Tamarama, Coogee and Maroubra beaches, we headed back towards the airport. By the time we reached the beaches, the sky started clearing up turning waters to blue.

I absolutely loved and enjoyed the tour and wished for more flying time 🙂 Overall, a great ride and marvelous views all over!
