Day 11 – Miss you Iceland

We reached the airport a little early and handed over our car to the rental company. We were worried that we crossed the speed limit at a few places. The speed limit is 90km/hr on main roads, 80km/hr on gravel roads, 50km/hr in towns and 30km/hr in residential localities. In some places, suddenly a town used to come up in the middle, with a board of speed limit 50, and it used to take some time to get to that speed. Also, there were speed boards at a lot of places on the road which display the speed of the car and a smiley accordingly πŸ™‚

Luckily, we didn’t get any speed tickets and no surprise costs during handover! That was a sigh of relief for us.

Final good-bye to Iceland from IcelandAir !

We had to catch three flights to reach Delhi! Our flight was from ReykjavΓk to Copenhagen (Denmark) and the next flight was from Copenhagen to Helsinki and then the last flight from Helsinki to Delhi.

We reached Copenhagen after 3hrs and there were a lot of wind mills installed in the sea, which could be seen during landing.

We had around 4hrs break in Copenhagen and then we boarded our flight to Helsinki. The time gap between the next two flights was very less, around 45mins, within which we have to go for security check and immigration and change gates. That sounded terrifying for us, but we wished that Finnair will take care of us as it was a connecting flight.

We quickly rushed once the flight landed in Helsinki and we were asked to hurry up by a Finnair attendant to catch our flight. The gates were very far from each other and it took a lot of time to reach the immigration counter. Luckily, there was no queue at the immigration counter and we ran for around 15mins to reach our flight gate. We reached our gate just before the final boarding call. As soon as we boarded the bus, the boarding was closed. It was a learning for us to book flights with a time-gap, whenever it involved immigration.

We successfully boarded our Finnair flight back to Delhi. As soon as we stepped outside in Delhi airport, we could feel the difference in air quality. It felt like we were breathing toxic air. After 10 days of breathing good air, the nose could easily detect the change. That was the wake-up call that we were now in Delhi!

Miss you Iceland πŸ™‚ I missed buying the air tin, but bought this bottle and saved it!

It’s time to buy books about Iceland and get to know more details about the country! Bless! (Good bye in Icelandic).
