Queenstown is called the adventure capital of the world, so we set aside one day to try an adventure. People who don’t know about this fact will also understand it within 15mins of walking in the town center as the shops are filled with tickets to adventure activities including Bungy jumping, Skydiving, Whitewater rafting, Canyon swinging, Shotover Jet etc..
I really like the idea of associating adventure activities with travel, as traveling itself will get me outside of my usual comfort zone and adding adventure to it can take that to the next level. I decided to do Bungy jumping at Kawarau Bridge Bungy.
We started our journey to Kawarau Bridge, a few kilometers away from Queenstown in the morning .

We reached the bridge and the Kawarau River looked tempting below. I got to jump before my scheduled slot, one of the first bungy jumpers of the day. This bridge is open to all tourists for free viewing and there were many tourists on the day waiting to see someone jump 🙂
My blog post on Bungy experience here:

While I tried Bungy, my husband tried Zip Lining in superman pose. You can choose any posture for Zip Lining along the river.

After completing our adventure activities, we headed to Bob’s cove track in the afternoon.

We extended our idea from fall colors to all the colors of New Zealand 🙂

We started our Bobs cove track to reach the top of the hill.

The turquoise water color is due to the presence of limestone in that region. This area used to be a sea bed million of years ago after which the sea retreated due to some fault lines, leaving limestone rock here.

The Lime Kiln below was used to extract limestone in this region, which was later used in construction.

It was a quiet and secluded place, away from all the tourists. A little steep walk up the hill got us the complete view of Bob’s cove, an amazing treat to eyes 🙂

We went back to our motel and took a shuttle to the town in the evening, to take our Gondola ride up the hill.

Gondola took us to the top of Bob’s hill, from where we got to witness beautiful views of the town. Gondola ticket can also be clubbed with a luge ride down the hill which is another famous activity of Queenstown.

We wanted to catch a good sunset view from the top, but the evening clouds covered the scattered sun light.

There is a restaurant and an observatory tower on the top, with an entry fee. Both looked amazing to try, but a bit pricey. We waited there to see the town in lights and then went back.

We headed to Fergburger for dinner again on our last night in Queenstown. I found the same town view winter photo in Fergburger and it made me dream hard again to come back to this town again during/after winter.

An amazing and tiring day came to an end!! 🙂
