We boarded our Qatar airways flight in Delhi to reach Athens. We had to change our flight in Doha as there is no direct flight. I had been on several airlines and its always boring to be on long flights. So, we planned well in advance and ordered 2 books each to finish them during the journey. But this flight experience was very memorable. Firstly to start with, I loved their ad describing safety features, particularly the oxygen mask one. Then we had a tv infront of us with great collection of movies from different Indian and foreign languages. We had lot of choices that it took us so much time to decide on the movie. Everyone of us got hooked to the TV for the next 3hrs till we reached Doha and infact I felt sad that we reached Doha so quickly, as I was in middle of a movie :P. I could easily say that this was the best flight experience I have ever experienced.

Had to change our flight at Doha to Athens and it was a very smooth process. Doha airport is very big, with so many terminals. If you look outside the airport, you don’t get to see anything other than sea and sand. I admired their commitment to build a world-class airport and wished for an airport of this standard in India. We could see people across nations there, as it is the main transit destination to reach many Asian, European , US and African countries.

We quickly boarded our next flight to watch more movies 🙂 Doha to Athens flight was a smaller and older one compared to the earlier flight. TVs had some technical issue after takeoff and we took a short nap till they got that settled. Then watched couple of movies before we reached Athens. We could see lot of islands during landing and some giant windmills too. It was around 7:30pm that we reached there, but it looked very bright outside. We assumed that we will have a long time gap from India, but surprisingly its only 2:30hrs behind.
Danilo, our Airbnb house neighbor came to pick us at the airport. Airport was very far from the city and we had a long ride to reach our house in Attica, closer to Acropolis. This was our first Airbnb experience and we were skeptical on how the house will look like, but it looked more beautiful than the photos on the website and everything was very well maintained. Danilo gave us Athens map pointing main points to visit and fortunately all are in walking distance from our house. We prepared our dinner and took rest for a walking tour the next day.
